Are you Paying Attention?
Attention helps us to join together the sensations we receive – what we see, hear, smell, feel.
Attention can focus us towards an object – so we can gain more information about it. It can also help keep us away from unwanted distraction.
Attention involves two steps:
- Focusing on a certain object
- Blocking out other incoming information
We are aware only of what we pay attention to words, sounds, emotion, feeling, taste, places, physical touch. When we pay attention to one object then we may not notice other objects or things that happen.
